Once upon a time.
I always wanted to open up a story with this line.
Anyhow, that’s how the story of Humanity started.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and Earth. He filled our planet with Nemo, Dory, Timon, Pumba, and the bluebird from Rio, the whole gang.
Then he created us – Humans.
God created us in his own image. Remember it next time, when you body shame someone or worse, think less of yourself.
He created the world with so much care and detail. And It was good.
Or you believe otherwise, that everything came from nothing. Well, Good luck with that.
Things are good until one day, the first humans ate the forbidden fruit.
BOOM…
.
.
.
.
The fall of humanity.
Before Adam and Eve were deceived they were put to rule the Earth instead they gave up that authority. They were walking with God literally.
But there came a crack in the relationship between humans and God when Sin was introduced into the picture.
What is a Sin?
My high school chemistry teacher told me talking to the other gender with ease is a sin.
The churches I’ve been part of taught me that dressing a certain way, having a particular hairdo, or not covering my head with a scarf while I am inside the church is a sin.
Most of the time the excuse my male friends gave to get drunk is," It’s a one-time thing Hpeza, I am not an alcoholic" So according to them doing an unhealthy thing for one time is not considered a sin.
Probably the culture would’ve influenced your definition of sin too. allow me to rephrase it.
Anything that comes between you and God is a Sin.
That’s what happened in Eden Garden.
Our beloved Adam and Eve let their curiosity and pride get the best of them.
Yet all along what God wanted was to be with us. A relationship with our naked selves.
Now before you make me contribute to the swear Jar, let me explain.
I meant metaphorically. He wants to connect with the Raw YOU.
Not the version that sits in front of the round white light and poses for social media as a flawless person. Nor the one who have it all together in front of others.
He wants the version of you which stays wide awake at 3 am in the night and think of every possible imaginary scenario in your life that could go wrong.
He wants the real you.
After Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden, not even a single Sunday school lesson taught me that they tried to contact God again.
It’s either because they were guilty or cause of their self-righteousness.
What many Christians don’t understand was we don’t have to do this alone.
Like Adam and Eve, we try to cover up our messes with fig leaves only to fail miserably when God is ready to clothe us with the robes of his hand.
“Rightenouesss - Not for sale. It comes as a package of your salvation”
Perhaps you are someone who is uptight, trying on your own to do the extraordinary to earn God’s love or the other kind who thinks “God once I fix these messes & iniquities of mine, I’ll come to you”.
I hate to break it to you pal. but this mindset – if it doesn’t help the first humans and it’s not gonna help you and me either.
And that’s the case, this is God’s way of Kulning for you to come back home. It’s time.
Reading these stories, I can’t help but wonder what would’ve happened if in case they could’ve called upon the Father who took care of them, fed them, and walked with them.
Now the whole of humanity is doomed.
Turns out God had other plans. Genesis Chapter 3 Verse 15 ends with a cool hero entry.
"He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” ~ Gen 3:15
But that’s not the end, does it? There’s more to this story, and so does to yours :)
To be continued .....
